France preparing for the youth international basketball season for U18 and U20
With the domestic season winding down the youth international basketball preparation takes centre stage for France. The national roster for the U18 and U20 teams have been announced. Their programmes will begin in June.
17 players called up for the U18 preliminary squad
Grégory Halin who coached the last year's U16 team to glory in the Termosteps Division A championships will take the U18 girls this year.
His preliminary squad is made up of ten players from the 1990 generation and seven from the 1991 age group.
The group will start their preparation in June with a seven-day training camp in Bourges. Then they will participate in the international basketball tournament in Nantes Rezé, locally known as "Rezé Basket International Féminin".
The dates for the 8 national tournament is from 19 June – 22 June. There are two groups of four teams. France are in group A with Australia, Czech Republic and Turkey.
In group B are Croatia, Lithuania, Poland and the USA.
The group matches will be played in two sports halls with games being played at 18:00 and 20:45 on the first two days. There will also be the 3-point shooting contest knock-out rounds held at 20:00 on both evenings.
On Saturday all the matches will be played in the A. Dugast sports hall. The first match will start at 14:00. On the last day the action starts at 10:30 with the final match at 18:00.

U20 preliminary roster
The U20 team for France start their youth international basketball preparation with a two-week training camp between 29 May – 13 June. The game will be concluded with two official matches against Poland, which are scheduled for the 11/12 June. Abdou N'Diaye (left) has called up 18 players for this training camp:
