France and Spain dominating U18 youth international basketball festival in Sweden
The pre-tournament U18 youth international basketball tournament favourites France and Spain continue to dominate the U18 European Championship Women Division A in Södertälje, Sweden.
France lead Group F after victories against Italy (63-45) and the Czech Republic (78-48).
Allison Vernerey (right) is leading the French attack with 11.4 points per game and averaging 9.2 rebounds per game.
France will face Lithuania in the group decider match.
Russia have not had a good competition and lost to Italy (46-47) and have been eliminated from the quarter-final.
In Group E Spain defeated the hosts (82-66). They had to wait until the third quarter to break the resistance of Sweden.
Vega Gimeno did most of the damage with 21 points for Spain.
Spain will take on Serbia in the group deciding match, while the hosts Sweden face Belgium and Latvia will play Poland.
Poland are the only team that cannot qualify for the quarter-final.
