International youth basketball at U20 level is becoming less and less. FIBA Europe is the only organisation within the FIBA zones that still organises championships at this level.



France have won the most medals in this age group with two gold medals, two silver and three bronze once. Russia are the only nation with a better record with four titles.

France are joining most of the other nations in bringing NCAA players back into the U19/20 age group. Last season Myriam Igoufe became the first player in recent time to play in a French youth side while studying in America.

Allison Vernerey and and Diandra Tchatchouang and a number of Spanish players are currently playing basketball in the NCAA and will be expected to play this summer.

The Division A championship will be held in Latvia while the Division B tournament will take place in Macedonia.

The 16 teams in Division A have been drawn into the following groups:
