France making good start in Termosteps U16 in KatowiceTermosteps U16 European Championship Women Division A started on Friday, 9 August, in Katowice, Poland with the defending championship winning comfortably against Latvia (74-54).
France took control of the match in the early minutes as Akmouche hit 6 consecutive points for her side to lead (8-4). Latvia were handicapped with loosing Anete Kirsteine due to injury within the first minute. By the end of the first quarter France was already leading (21-12). They continued to increase their advantage to 19 points by the interval (40-23). This allowed the French head coach, Arnaud Guppillotte, to give all the players a run. For the remaining of the game both sides traded basket for basket with Latvia never able to close the gap with France maintaining their 20-point advantage for most of the game. Akmouche was joined in double digits by Adja Konteh with 13 points and Floriane Basque and Jody Cornelie with 10 apiece.
