Thierry Balestrièr's four-year reign as the president of the Ligue Féminine de Basketball (LFB) came to an end in January 2013. Then Philippe Legname was elected into the role.
In addition to his new position as LFB president he is also the 5th vice-president of the FFBB with the responsibility of looking after professional basketball in France for both women and men.
Although Legname's experience in basketball administration has been mostly in men's basketball due to his involvement with Hyères Toulon
Var Basket (HTV) he explains in the video that he does not see that as a handicap in running the LFB.
He goes on to say that it is the same sport and that he has followed women's basketball regularly. He has attended every Open LFB and is a regular visitor to Aix-en-Provence basketball club.
However his biggest challenge for the moment is to raise the profile of the sport so that professional basketball can profit from the recent success of the national senior women's team at the Olympics and at EuroBasket.
He explains how the association with UNICEF and how the "heart of champions" project will work and keep women's basketball in the media spotlight all during the season.
He also highlights a new competition accross the regions to hopefully increase the number of young female players.
