The administrative license rules for playing basketball under the direction of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) is not that complicated. Outside the LFB a club is not allowed to have more than 5 transferred (new) players on the score sheet.

To make it easy and so that the match officials do not get mixed up the licenses are coded.

Despite all the care taken to avoid clubs' exceeding quotas for matches, it does happen and the penalty is usually severe. All points gained in the match are removed (2 points for a win or 1 point for a loss).

Two clubs in the Ligue Féminine 2 made this mistake twice and the FFBB have confirmed the penalty with the following statement in French: Après études des dossiers concernant les irrégularités inhérentes au règlement des joueuses mutées commises par deux clubs de Ligue 2 Féminine, la Fédération a validé des sanctions, effectives au classement. Ainsi La Roche VBC écope de 3 points de pénalité (1 victoire et 1 défaite transformées en 2 matches à 0 point) alors que Léon Trégor se voit infliger 4 points de sanction (2 victoires transformées en 2 matches à 0 point).

Roche Vendée made the mistake during the 2nd and 3rd round which has cost them 3 points. The CFBB who were beaten (66-54) have been awarded the point for the victory.

What this means is that Roche Vendée has dropped to 8th place going into round 17. They are just one point behind the team in fourth place, so they could still qualify for the final 4 at the end of the season.

The situation for Léon Trégor is more complicated as they drop into 13th place, deep into the relegation zone.

Their wins against Limoges and US Laveyron in rounds 3 and 4 have been forfeited, which has resulted in a 4-point penalty.

Before the season started Léon Trégor's ambition was to be playing basketball in the LF2 final four. Now they are in a fight against relegation.

For Roche Vendée the chance of winning the regular season title has been reduced.
