Aix-en-Provence have had a hard time in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball since 2008-2009 as the club dropped from title challengers to LFB survivors. In 2009 seven new players and Emmanuel Coeuret joined the club. Aix finished in 11th place. Last season six new players joined the LFB roster but the club finished in 12th place. Emmanuel Coeuret remains as head coach and is reunited with Damien Leroux as his assistant. The President Guy Boillon's fascinations with Australians continues as the club signed Australian international Elyse Penaluna. However Penaluna is not able to honour her first professional contract outside Australia as she injured herself during the final quarter of the SEABL championship game in Australia while playing for Dandenong. Despite not finishing she top scored for her side with 19 points and 11 rebounds as Dandenong beat Knox (65-57). As a result of tearing her ACL Aix-en-Provence has signed Latvian international Liene Jansone as a medical replacement. However the big signings of the summer are Spanish internationals Cindy Lima and Tamara Abalde. The other new signings are Kelly Corre (Pleyber-Christ - LF2), Sylvie Gruszczynski (COB Calais - LFB) and N'Diaye N'Deye (COB Calais - LFB). Corre played under Coeuret during her youth career at USO Mondeville. N'Deye joins the team after AfroBasket. Her signing came after Sabrina Réghaïssia decided to take a break from playing basketball. The other players to leave are: Carren Gay (Toulouse Métropole - LF2), Zoi Dimitrakou (Charleville-Mézières - LFB), Lauren Neaves (Tarbes - LFB), Isabelle Strunc (Perpignan - LF2), Margaux Okou-Zouzouo, Anaïs Viale (Colomiers - NF1) and Hollie Grima. Hollie Grima (in picture wearing green) had played out her contract last season despite having time off for an operation around Christmas after an early cancer discovery. Grima had decided to put on hold her international career but continues to play basketball in Australia. She announced recently "The surgery revealed that some of the cells had turned cancerous but a six-month check earlier this month produced more encouraging news. "From what they could see, everything looked OK, although it could always come back." Grima had played 274 senior games for Australia. She was a member of the 2006 World Championship team and also won bronze in 2002 and a silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games. The LFB roster for 2011-2012 is: Nathalie Hurst, Claire Tomaszeski, Emmanuelle Gorjeu, Cindy Lima, Tamara Albade, Liene Jansone, Sylvie Gruszczynski, Kelly Corre, N'Diaye N'Deye and Manon Cuomo.
