Ligue Féminine 2
Who can stop Perpignan?

Armentières' Ligue Féminine 2 campaign took a serious knock with a run of 6 defeats. At least now in December they can smile after stopping the series.

The only other important information from week 12 of L2F is the official announcement from Limoges that Jimmy Rela's contract with the club will be terminated and that Maxime Bézin is the new head coach.

On the basketball court, nothing is going well for Reims BF at the moment. Their loss over the weekend to SO Armentières (75-95) leaves them two games behind the rest of the teams in the relegation battle at the bottom of the table.

Mia Fisher whose French career started in Reims with 19 points and 6 assists was the player of the match.

Limoges lost at home to Roche Vendée (52-68). It was a poor third quarter in which they scored just 5 points allowing their guests to take command of the game and push them back into the regulation zone.

Roche Vendée are now on level terms with Limoges in the regular season standing with 16 points.Perpignan players on Community service © not knownIt is not easy playing basketball for Perpignan with the pressure as pre-season favourites, community work and school for some.

However all this did not stop them from making it seven wins in a row by winning on the road against Léon Trégor (65-58). Fatou Dieng was the hero of the match with a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc in her 19-point and 3-assist display.

Toulouse on the other hand lost their place alone at the top with a home defeat against Dunkerque Malo (67-71).

Dunkerque trailed for most of the match but sneaked the win with panache during the last 90 seconds. While Dace Pierre-Joseph with her 26 points which included a perfect 14-of-14 from the free-throw line will take any player of the match award, her team-mates produced the team's best collective game of the season.

COB Calais are still one of the favourites for promotion from Ligue Féminine 2 and despite their dominance just managed to overcome Le Havre (61-68).

Le Havre, hosting the game, had a terrible game in scoring as they only converted 28% of their shots while Calais had a better shooting percentage and also five players in double digits.

Although COB Calais and Toulouse have the same points as Perpignan, it has to be said that Perpignan are the new leaders because they have played one game less due to no fault of theirs. Had this game been played Perpignan would have had a least one more point.

US Laveyron's loss last week to the CFBB has been forgotten as they thumped Voiron (78-63) in a match that they led from start to finish.

Olivia Epoupa is considered to be one of the talented youth players in France and this weekend she gave Illkirch-Graffenstaden a demonstration of her talent with 17 points, 2 steals, 3 assists and 6 rebounds.

However this was not enough for the CFBB to win because Lina Brazdeïkyte decided to take the pressure of Amina Njonkou and Céline Schmitt-Sendner by leading the attack with 17 points in the (69-51) victory.

The results of round 12 are:

Illkirch-Graffenstaden 69-51 CFBB
Léon Trégor 59-65 Perpignan
Toulouse 67-71 Dunkerque Malo
Le Havre 61-68 COB Calais
Limoges ABC 52-68 Roche Vendée
Reims BF 75-95 SO Armentières
US Laveyron 78-63 Voiron
