The 2011-12 newcomers to the LFB, Lyon BF have a new name "SASP Lyon Basket Féminin". By moving up to the Ligue Féminine de Basketball the club was required to update its structure and become more professional. By becoming a SASP (société anonyme sportive professionnelle) Lyon have taken the final step towards professionalism. Veuillez trouver en bas du page des informations sur l'équipe de Lyon BF en français SASP is a group of people that have come together to add the necessary funds for Lyon BF to be able to meet all the requirements for playing in the top division this season. The big change for the coach Pierre Bressant who has been the head coach since 2008-2009 is that he has an assistant coach working with him for the first time. Laurent Benitah who is a physical education teacher and a well known coach in the Lyon's region of men's amateur basketball (NM2/NM3) has accepted the offer as assistant coach. This is his first time working in the women's game. Audrey Sauret-Gillespie (in picture) was the first signing of the season. The former French captain was presented to the Lyon public during the LF2 final four and presented the winner's trophy. She is joined by Sarra Ouerghi (Charleville-Mézières - LFB), Mame-Marie Sy-Diop (Nantes-Rezé - LFB) and Krystal Thomas (Duke Univeristy - WNBA). Thomas completed her university basketball career during the NCAA March Madness of 2011. She was 36th in the WNBA draft by Seattle Storm. Thomas played in eight games for Seattle. She was waived by Seattle in July and signed for Phoenix Mercury in August. Due to the fact that Thomas is involved in the WNBA play-offs and Sy-Diop is on international duty with Senegal, Leigh Aziz has been signed to cover their absence. Aziz played in Italy at the same club as Sauret-Gillespie last season. The players who had won promotion to the LFB but left the club are: Charlotte Ducos (Charnay Basket Bourgogne Sud - NF1), Aurélie Carmona (Armentières - LF2), Carole LeClair (Reims BF - LF2), Lydia Karlefors (AS Villeurbanne BF - NF1), Candyce Sellars. Lyon BF's tunic was the talk of LF2 last season. Lyon are the first club in the history of the Ligue Féminine de Basketball to play in tunics. The LFB roster for 2011-2012 is as follows: Charline Servage, Géraldine Bertal, Julie Legoupil, Marion Arfélis, Audrey Sauret-Gillespie, Sarra Ouerghi, Leslie Ardon, Mame-Marie Sy-Diop, Krystal Thomas and Leigh Aziz.
