The town of Nice has experienced LFB basketball before with Nice Cavigal Olympic (NCO). The club was relegated from the Ligue Féminine de Basket in 2007. By April 2009 they went into administration. As the town refused to support two clubs for women's basketball, Nice Basket Competition 06 was created in 2009 as a compromise. The agreement lasted just one season and 2010-2011 Cavigal Nice Basket 06 became the official professional club in Nice. This is the reason why by winning the LF2 championship in their first season it is viewed as an exploit. En bas du page vous trouvez les information sur l'effectif de Cavigal Nice Basket 06 en français The club has modified its structure slightly, changed its logo and taken up a new nickname "NISS’ANGELS". Olga Tarasenko who finished her playing career in France is the coach in Nice since 2004 and took Nice CAB from NF3 to NF1. When the clubs in Nice merged she was kept on as a head coach and continued with her promotion drive. By winning the LF2 championship last season she is the second trainer after Olivier Lafargue who had coached the same club in all the national leagues (NF3/NF2/LF2/LFB). With seven players coming back for the season only three players were recruited: After two seasons with Basket Landes, former French youth international and Paris Basket 18 stand-out Aminata Konate (right) joins Nice. The second signing is former Canadian NEDA (National Elite Development Academy) player Krysten Boogaard who then went to the University of Kansas (Jayhawks). Her brother Derek Boogaard played ice hockey in the American NHL. The final signing comes from Iowa State University with Kelsey Bolte. She was drafted in the WNBA by Atlanta Dream but was waived before the season started. The following players return for another season: Barbara Cousin, Stéphanie Dubois, Elodie Decker, Fabienne Constant, Guiday Mendy, Majda Ghariani and Jeanne Senghor-Sy. Senghor-Sy should miss the start of the season due to her involvement with the Senegal national team. She has already picked up a gold medal at the 2011 All African Games with Senegal after beating Angola (64-57). Six first-team players from last season have moved on: Laura Dessus (Spirou Monceau - Belgium), Swanne Gauthier (Wasquehal - NF1), Maryléne Guérra (Roquebrune Cap Martin - NF2), Eléonore Luhaka (BO Savoie - NF2), Hasnat Mahouchiza (Brive - NF2) and Morgane Plestan (Ifs - NF1). The LFB roster for 2010-2011 is as follows: Aminata Konate, Kelsey Bolte, Barbara Cousin, Krysten Boogaard, Stéphanie Dubois, Elodie Decker, Fabienne Constant, Guiday Mendy, Majda Ghariani and Jeanne Senghor-Sy. Below are scenes from the players celebrating with their supporters with the "logobitombo" dance.
