Agne Abromaite joined the Basket Landes LFB roster in the middle of November on a six-week temporary contract. Basket Landes were hoping to sign Serbian Milena Vukicevic but then the deal broke down. Abromaite herself was also in discussion with a possible medical replacement contract at USO Mondeville due to the absence of Egle Silciute. Finally the Lithuanian international was signed on a short-term contract. The purpose of her signing was to give the club an extra rotation in the pivot position and give Jennifer Humphrey some rest due to the fact that the club was also involved in midweek EuroCup Women matches. Before the arrival of Abromaite, Humphrey was averaging around 37 minutes per contest. Basket Landes are not able at this stage of the season to offer Abromaite a longer contract due to some financial restrictions imposed on them by the French Basketball Federation (FFBB). However the six-week deal is viewed by both parties as an extended trial period which could lead to an extended contract until the end of the season provided Basket Landes can guarantee their budget to the LFB financial committee. Abromaite (right) who is 32 years old has been a regular member of the Lithuanian national team since 2001. She took part in six EuroBasket Women tournaments and two FIBA World Championships for Women. She has also played professional basketball in Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Russia and Spain. In 2010-2011, she played alongside Cindy Lima (Aix-en-Provence) and Edwige Lawson-Wade (Lattes Montpellier) for Ros Casares in the Spanish League and was also a player on the roster for the EuroLeague Women final four.
