Lyon's home encounter with Basket Landes closed the 10th round of the LFB with a victory (55-51)for the hosts that has turned upside-down the regular season standings. For two teams that tend to take long distance shots, this game was very defensive. Lyon attempted only 11 shots beyond the arc and were successful twice. However they scored 8 points off their opponents turnovers which proved to be decisive at the end. One of Lyon's problems this season has been foul problems for key players early in the match. For this game they were called for just 2 team fouls during the first 20 minutes. But Amélie Pochet from Basket Landes found herself in foul problems early with 2 fouls in the first quarter. The game started slowly with Lyon edging the first quarter (12-11) with Audrey Sauret (right) and Sarra Ouerghi scoring 4 points each for the hosts. In the second quarter the two centers had their private contest with Leigh Aziz scoring 8 from Lyon's 14 points while Jennifer Humphrey scored 8 from 13 points for Basket Landes. Lyon went into the interval ahead (26-24). The two teams continued their scoring drought during the third quarter. But with Sauret imposing her authority on the game Lyon went into the final quarter leading (38-33). Then Basket Landes started to take more risks: Anäis Le Gluher-Cano fired in a couple of shots from behind the arc as her side attempted a comeback. Yet the hosts managed to stay in front by finishing with 4-of-6 from the free-throw line (55-51). Sauret led the scoring for the hosts with 19 points while Aziz added 11. For Basket Landes Humphrey scored 18 points and picked up 15 rebounds while Gluher-Cano added 10 points and Katarina Manic dished out 5 assists. The defeat for Basket Landes has not changed their position in the LFB standings as they now share third place with four teams. After defeats for Charleville-Mézières and Villeneuve in the Saturday LFB matches Lyon are hence in a four-team tie for 10th place. Cavigal Nice are two games behind the rest of the pack at the bottom of the table. The big winners in round 10 were Challes-les-Eaux who are currently four games clear of the teams fighting for third place. LFB round 10 results of the 2011-2012 regular season
