COB Calais have finished the first half of the LF2 2013-2014 season with a perfect record after beating 2nd placed Roche Vendée in the game of the week.
COB Calais are at the moment two games clear at the top of the table and are just seven victories away from claiming a place in the Final 4.
For the first time this season all 14 teams were in action during the weekend. Perpignan - who are still not able to register Laurie Datchy - were beaten for the second time this week. A defeat on the road in midweek to Limoges was followed by a home defeat against Dunkerque Malo (57-60).
With all the issues surrounding the integration of Perpignan, the refusal of the French Federation to register Datchy because of the club exceeding their salary cap has not gone down well with the president of Perpignan Basket.
COB Calais are on a roll in LF2. In what was billed as the game of the week they knocked over Roche Vendée (72-58). Aurélie Cibert, COB Calais' captain was inspirational with 17 points, 4 assists and rebounds while Tiffany Clark and Mélanie Arnaud (in picture) chipped in 14 and 12 points respectively.
Despite the defeat Roche Vendée remain in second place in the LF2 regular season table.
Pau Lacq-Orthez and Illkirch-Graffenstaden who started the day in third and fourth place respectively failed to close the gap on the leaders after losing their weekend encounters.
Illkirch-Graffenstaden dropped down to fifth place after losing on the road to Limoges (58-64). Brooklyn Pope has finally settled in at Limoges. She picked up 27 rebounds while scoring 14 points. With this win, Limoges have moved up to fourth place.
Léon Trégor beat Pau Lacq-Orthez (74-70) with a master class three-point demonstration from Adrianna Gresnerova (7-from-12) who had a total of 25 points.
Reims BF had no problems against the CFBB (94-39) while Charnay Basket pushed aside Le Havre Basket (84-56). Chartres hung on for victory against Aix-en-Provence (56-53).
The situation at the bottom of the LF2 table is as follows: The CFBB are yet to win a game and are in last place. Perpignan have only played three games but with two defeats they may be not as strong as thought. Reims and Le Havre are tied for 8th place while Dunkerque who have played one game more are in 10th place.
Excluding Perpignan for the moment Charnay and Aix-en-Provence are the two teams in 11th and 12th place that are in the two relegation spots.
