The 2010 Fiba Europe U20 European Championship Women chances for France to defend their title has been made more difficult due to the ankle injury of Diandra Tchatchouang sustained during their last match of the qualification round to Russia where the French team lost (59-76).
From Group E where France finished third, Latvia, Russia and the Ukraine join France in the quarter-finals.
From Group F Spain beat Turkey (80-57) to maintain their perfect record and win the group. Lithuania, Serbia and Turkey all qualify for the quarter-finals with a 3/2 record.
In the classification round for the 13 - 16 place, Romania beat Germany (70-50) to finish in 13th place while Sweden defeated Bulgaria (72-52). However Sweden and Bulgaria are both relegated to Division B.

The results of day 5
In the first half Latvia was leading (32-30) with all the French players on the stat sheet.
Latvia brought an end to Alain Jardel undefeated record since returning to youth international basketball.
Anete Klintsone from Latvia turned the match to the favour of the host nation at the end of the third quarter with a three-point buzzer beater.
With the game in money-time she more or less single-handedly won the game for Latvia with clutch shooting and steady free throwing (70-67).
For France Pauline Thizy top scored with 16 points while Diandra Tchatchouang and Laurie Datchy had 14 and 13 points each.
