Germany and Lithuania have qualified for the quarter-final of the 2011 FIBA Europe U16 European Championship for Women Division B in Arad on the first day of the qualifying round action. Germany and Lithuania are playing in Group F and have maintained their unbeaten record. Lithuania had a comfortable victory against Switzerland (84-52) with 19 points coming from Justina Kraujunaite. Germany had to work harder in overcoming Bulgaria (78-62). Noémie Rouault was the big hitter for Germany with 28 points. She also picked up 17 rebounds. For Bulgaria Borislava Hristova was again the main player with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. In the other game in this group, the hosts Romania lost to Denmark (56-61) despite 22 points and 12 rebounds from Simina Laura Avram. The Danes used a balanced scoring attack with Frederikke Mollerup and Kia Fisker both scoring 15 points while Sofie Preetzmann added 12 points. In Group E, Portugal are the only team still with a 100% record after beating Estonia (73-31). The suspense did not last long with Portugal leading (20-8) by the end of the first quarter. Portugal like to shoot three-pointers. They went 9-for-25 during this match. Laura Ferreira who led the scoring with 17 points made 3-from-5 attempts from behind the arc. Ukraine smashed Slovenia (63-37) with Oksana Batrakova scoring 27 points and picking up 14 rebounds. She was supported by Tetyana Antonyuk who collected 22 rebounds while scoring 8 points. England survived a late rally by Latvia in the other group game to win (61-55). In the classification group for 13th place Israel beat Luxembourg (97-62) in a three-point shooting festival. Israel connected 11 times from the land of many while Luxembourg had 7 successful shots. Ofir Banet from Israel was the leading scorer in the game with 24 points. She also went 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. For Luxembourg Alexa Sanelli was the top scorer with 15 points.
