Bourges Basket are competing in this competition for the 13th time. They allowed their guests Besiktas Cola Turka the first 10 minutes of the match to accustom themselves to EuroLeague Basketball before running out winners (79-49).
For Bourges Alessandra Santos, who has recovered from her shoulder injury, led the scoring with 19 points, shooting 8-of-9 from the field. Santos also accumulated 9 rebounds alongside Emméline Ndongue. Endeme Miyem also finished with 16 points.
The only player not to score from Bourges was Carine Paul.
Bourges managed to keep Shay Doron (12 points) in check for most of the game. As a consequence Laura Harper took over the offensive work and finished with 18 points.
In the other matches in group A MiZo Pecs 2010 ran out winner at home against Halcon Avenida (82-65). The home side allowed their guests to snatch the lead on the buzzer at the end of the first period.
MiZo Pecs then finished the second period ahead (45-37) but only managed to put their guests down in the final period (25-12) to win with Anna Vajda doing most of the damage with 26 points.
In the last game of the group Chamique Holdsclaw was once again the star of the show as TS Wisla Krakow won away in overtime (80-79) to Nadezhda Orenbourg.
Holdshaw was to give Wisla the advantage (71-66) during regulation time. But with less than three seconds to play Anastasyia Veremeenko sent the game into overtime (71-71).
Holdsclaw was to foul out in overtime, thereby leaving the heroics for Anna Wielebnowska. Wielebnowska scored the winning shot with 17 seconds left to play.
For Wisla Holdsclaw scored 20 points and finished with 7 rebounds while Marta Fernandez finished on 19 points.
Shameka Christon finished with a game-high 20 points for the hosts and was joined in the 20s by Veremeenko on 20 points.
EuroLeague Women Group B
CSKA Moscow never allowed Villeneuve d'Ascq into the game and won comfortably (96-44).
Jolene Anderson with 16 points including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc and Géraldine Robert with 10 points and 9 rebounds were the only players from Villeneuve that were able to get into the game.
CSKA were too strong in all sectors of the game: they out-rebounded their guests (44:22). They had six players in double digits with Katie Douglas leading the scoring with 20 points.
If surprises still exist in the world of EuroLeague basketball, then it was the loss of Gambrinus Sika Brno at home to Umana Reyer (68-77).
Umana Reyer won the Italian Supercup last week and are currently in good form. A 6-0 run early in the third period put them in control of the game.
Then they did not allow their hosts back. The guests had five players in double digits with Jenifer Nadalin leading the way with 14 points.
In the other game from the group TTT Riga went down in their home opener to MKB Euroleasing (71-86).
EuroLeague Women Group C

UMMC Ekaterinburg required five minutes to get going against their hosts Jolly JBS Sibenik to go ahead (9-8).
They then stepped on the accelerator to stretch their lead (26-14) by the end of the first period. They never looked back as they went on to win (92-62).
Penny Taylor scored 18 points but also dished out 4 assists and took 6 rebounds. She was joined in double digits by five other players including Sandrine Gruda, Agnieszka Bibrzycka with 18 and 15 points respectively.
UMMC compiled an impressive 24 assists with Bibrzycka and Cappie Pointexter with 7 each.
Ros Casares Valencia had no problems as they cruised past Lotos PKO BP Gdynia (93-51) in the other group game.
EuroLeague Women Group D
Montpellier had done all the hard work and led (62-53) with just under seven minutes to play in the final period.
Yet they allowed their guests Broker Kosice to take the advantage through Liron Cohen with four seconds left to play and snatch the victory (67-65).
Sheana Mosch scored a game high 21 points for Montpellier. But she came out second best as her side turned the ball over in the last second that enabled their opponents to have the last attack and eventually score.
Cathrine Kraayevel led the way with 20 points for the winners.
In the other games Fenerbahce came from behind in the third period after allowing their guests TEO Vilnuis right back in the match before going on to win (78-68).
Nevriye Yilmaz scored 18 points for the hosts while Crystal Langhorne finished with a game high 23 points for the losers.
Spartak Moscow Region was made to work hard against Famila Schio before coming away with the victory (88-63).
Spartak Moscow Region took the lead for good (17-14) after six minutes of play. However they only led by 11 points at the interval (50-39).
The home side had to wait until the final period, when they put an 11-2 run together ,to finally put down their guests.
Tatiana Shchegoleva led the scoring with 22 points for the winners while Kathrin Ress put in 20 points for Famila.
