Dynamo Moscow keep EuroCup
Women title for another year

When it comes to EuroCup Women drama, then Dynamo Moscow are the new champions. In the final seconds of the 2013 final a lucky bounce had allowed Ilona Korstin to run away for a uncontested lay-up to win the trophy.

This time the team from Moscow struggled to maintain their 32-point advantage from game one and just held on to win the series (158-150).

Tina Charles was the star of the series. In game one she scored 26 points and picked up 17 rebounds to go along with her 4 assists whereas in the second game of the series she added 24 points and 8 rebounds to her personal statistics.

This is her first intercontinental championship medal while her American team-mate Lindsay Whalen had an up and down series. In game one she scored 21 points and dished out 7 assists whereas in the game two she did not score but picked up 3 steals. Ana Dabovic was conistent offensively with 20 and 15 points.

For the 2011 EuroCup Women winners Dynamo Kursk, everything went wrong in the last three quarters of the game. They were outscored by 35 points during this phase and their hope of regaining the trophy was gone.

Playing the final game in their own arena sparked the Kursk players into action. Seimone Augustus (9 rebounds) and Jelena Milovanovic helped themselves to 18 points each in the game two victory. However the 24-point victory (85-61) was not enough to overcome the disastrous game one deficit.

Dans la première manche de la finale Dynamo Kursk subit une lourde défaite de 32 points contre Dynamo Moscou et succombe (65-97). Mais à domicile, les joueuses de Kursk creusent un écart de 20 points pour gagner cette rencontre (85-61) mais échouent à prendre l'avantage de la série (150-158).

Ainsi Dynamo Moscou gagnent pour la deuxième année consécutive la finale de l'EuroCoupe féminine.

Tina Charles était sublime pour le gagnant dans les deux matchs avec un total de 50 points et 25 rebonds. Dans la première manche pour Dynamo Kursk Candice Dupree était en bonne forme avec 16 points, 4 passes décisives, 1 contre, 1 interception et 7 rebonds pendant que Seimone Augustus (9 rebonds) et Jelena Milovanovic étaient la force majeure dans leur victoire contre Dynamo Moscou avec 18 points chacune.
