EuroCup Women group stage comes to an end next week
Mondeville are in need of a point guard after Clarisse Costaz and Esther Niamke-Moisan picked up injuries during the weekend. The club registered Audrey Zaire (16 years old) from the basketball academy for the match. She played for 12 minutes and scored 1 point. Mondeville held on for almost 25 minutes before suffering a 15-1 reversal with Anna Vida doing most of the damage. Tired and battered they were unable to make up the deficit and not only lost the game but also the lead in Group A. Vida fired in 26 points for Seat Lami-Véd Györ, who now lead the group. In the other game in this group, Sdent Sierre Basket beat Vagos (69-46). In EuroCup Women Group B, Gran Canaria remain perfect after beating Dexia W Namur (78-40). Lattes Montpellier remain unbeaten but were given scare by MBK Ruzomberok (81-71).
The third quarter was a thrilling affair with five lead changes and the teams remained level (55-55) after 30 minutes. Montpellier scored the first 9 points of the final quarter and took hold of the game for good. Pauline Krawczyk led the Montpellier attack with 22 points while Constance Jinks, Khadijah Whittington and Sandra Dijon-Gérardin added 10 points each. Klaudia Lukacovicová led the attack for MBK Ruzomberok with 16 points and 8 rebounds. In the other game in Group C, Lemminkainen beat CAB Madeira (77-61). The team from Madeira are eliminated from the competition. Shannon Johnson continues to shine in this competition, she scored 20 points for Ibiza Sport Island in their victory (59-53) against Polish club side CCC Polkowice. CCC still top Group D and will play against Saarlouis Royals next week, a match that will be streamed live by the Royals on their website. Dynamo Moscow remain unbeaten in Group G and will face Dunav Econt Ruse in the group decider next week. If Dynamo lose the game by more than 10 points then they will finish second in the group. Chevakata notched up their first victory of the season by beating HATIS Yerevan (91-82). The following teams are already eliminated from the competition: CAB Madeira, Sdent Nyon Basket, Samsun Basketball and Baschet ICIM.

Ruzomberok had the better of the opening quarter (21-13), however Montpellier recovered and the teams went into the locker room all square (33-33).
