LFB basketball news: Greek international Pelagia Papamichail joins Limoges ABC
LFB basketball news: Pelagia Papamichail comes to Limoges ABC until the end of the season
Pelagia Papamichail played for Greece during EuroBasket Women 2009. She averaged per game 37 minutes, scored 9.2 points and collected 8.1 rebounds.
She played her club basketball in Greece from 1999 until the end of last season 2008-2009 with different clubs. Papamichail also played for her country at youth level and joined the senior national team in 2005.
She started this season with Spanish club side Cadi La Seu (A.E. Sedis Basquit) for five games before moving to Croatia to join Gospic Croatia.
With the club's elimination from the EuroLeague Women last week, she became a "free agent".
So for her first season abroad she will have played in three countries. Papamichail is 24 years old and 1m.89 tall, a power forward and a perfect replacement for Laima Rickeviciute who is now playing basketball in Italy.
If Papamichail's international clearance paperwork is completed by Friday, she will be able to make her début during the Coupe de France (French Cup) game this weekend.
We met up with Papamichail during EuroBasket and you can listen to the interview which we conducted after Greece had qualified for the quarter-final.
