Céline Schmitt-Sendner (in picture) was in the basketball news this weekend after leading the SIG to victory against Pleyber-Christ (84-70). She scored 28 points on an almost perfect shooting day. She also picked up 9 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Her team-mate Amina Njonkou compiled a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Pleyber-Christ who were without Nagnouma Coulibaly can almost say bye bye for any final four ambitions after this defeat. Philippe Sauret was upset that his team Reims was forced to play their important game against Roche-Vendée in another gym but relieved that they came away with a victory. Lyon are now just one win away from becoming the regular season champions after cruising to victory against Angers (72-50). Nice destroyed Rennes (91-52) to stay in fourth place. Rennes' problems were made worse with the loss of Milijana Evtoukhovitch in the last minute of the first quarter. In the remaining games Voiron ended Armentières' play-off hopes for good (68-65) while Limoges struggled to beat the CFBB (69-65). Limoges and Voiron who are in fifth and sixth place can still qualify for the final four if they continue to win while the teams above them have a losing streak. Dunkerque Malo's dynamic duo Mariame Dia and Dace Brumermane combined for 39 points and 19 rebounds in the victory against Pau Lacq Orthez (69-61). Le Havre fell at home to Perpignan (63-65) and remain in the relegation zone. With six games left in the regular season, only the top 4 clubs are mathematically clear off the relegation battle.
