Basket Landes are waiting on clearance from the French Basketball Federation but are hoping that Hightower will be in action this weekend against Montpellier. Hightower played in the WNBA last season with Connecticut Sun and had annoyed Laurent Buffard, her coach at Nantes-Rezé, by leaving the club without warning before the 2011 LFB Challenege round final. Hightower, a graduate from Louisiana State University (LSU), was the 13th pick in the WNBA draft for Connecticut, the same team of Sandrine Gruda. After her 2010 WNBA season, she joined Nantes-Rezé and played in 23 games in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball and 4 games in the EuroCup Women competition. In her second season in the WNBA she played in 25 games and started twice. While Hightower is the official replacement of Diouf-Diongue, she will actually be replacing Camille Aubert (whose season is over) while backing up for Amélie Pochet. The duration of her contract has not been confirmed but based on what happened last season, it is unlikely that she will be playing for Basket Landes during the month of May.
