The last major trophy for Aix-en-Provence (Pay's d'Aix Basket 13) came in 2003 when they lifted the first FIBA EuroCup Women Cup.
They finished runners-up in the same competition in 2006. But this was the last time that they had been involved in a final of a top competition.
Aix-en-Provence have been playing top level basketball for 32 years and despite the lack of success in the last few years they have been able to raise a budget and run a professional team.
This season they are only have seven professional players. Gone are the Spanish accents of Cindy Lima and Tamara Ablade, replaced by the Canadian duo of Lizanne Murphy and Shona Thorburn.
The Australian tradition continues with Cayla Francis and Marianna Tolo joining the club. The only other signing is that of Adja Konteh who played under Bruno Blier at Arras.
Sylvie Gruszczyski and Kelly Corre are the only players returning from last season. The rest of the places on the team are taken by the following academy players: Viviane Adjutor, Natty Chambertain and Lisa Lefèvre.
Last season Aix-en-Provence finished in 12th place, one place above the relegation zone and hence did not qualify for a post season.
